Frequently Asked Questions

  • Because we believe it is important for instructors to understand each student’s learning style, preferences, and strengths in order to provide an effective learning environment, we offer a 5-week introductory package for new students.

This allows students time to get to know their instructor, and parents can observe whether it is the right fit for their child. It also gives the instructor sufficient time to assess the student and develop an effective lesson plan. Students can enroll for the remainder of the semester after completion of the package with a prorated tuition.

  • We recommend that students have access to a keyboard, digital piano, or acoustic piano at home for practice. If your child is younger than six years old and you are unsure whether piano is the right instrument, we suggest starting with the Hug Melody® SOLO class.

In this class, you can request that the instructor introduce your child to multiple instruments to explore their interests.

  • We offer 30-minute or 45-minute lessons, typically scheduled once per week.

  • We believe it is important for students not only to enjoy learning but also to take ownership of their learning process. Our instructors pay close attention to each student’s interests and preferences when selecting lesson materials, while also addressing areas that need improvement.

  • Our instructors tailor lesson materials and teaching approaches to match each student’s learning style. At the same time, students are expected to follow instructions, build a practice routine, and meet reasonable expectations for musical progress.

If you are looking for lessons that are more flexible and highly individualized, we recommend our Musicreative™ program.

  • Yes. We hold annual student recitals where students can share their talents and love of music with an audience. We also help students prepare for optional exams such as NYSSMA or ABRSM.

  • We request that students inform the instructor or therapist of your cancellation at least 24 hours before the session. Your therapist or instructor will tell you their cancelation policy prior to the first session.
