Musicreative™ is a structured, individualized music education method developed in 2008 by Kana Kamitsubo, MT-BC, music educator and founder of Hug Music.

Drawing on her extensive professional experience, Kana’s approach incorporates adaptive and developmentally appropriate teaching strategies to make music learning accessible, engaging, and supportive for a wide range of learners.

Musicreative™ is a subject-based private music lesson program, where students receive instruction on a chosen instrument such as piano, guitar, ukulele, voice, or songwriting. Each lesson is designed to develop core musical skills, including technique, coordination, rhythm, listening, and musical expression.

Instruction is individualized to align with each student’s learning style, interests, strengths, and pace. When appropriate, students may explore multiple instruments within a lesson to support engagement and reinforce skill development.

Through consistent, structured instruction, students build not only musical abilities but also skills in focus, confidence, communication, and self-expression within a supportive learning environment.

Our Purpose Is Simple:

To help your child grow through music lessons, both as a musician and as a person. Every lesson is designed to spark joy in learning music, build confidence, and nurture important life skills that go far beyond the classroom..

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Students can choose to take piano, Guitar, Ukulele, Voice and/or Songwriting lessons.

  • This class is available for individuals with all abilities.

  • Because we are dedicated to understanding each child’s unique strengths, learning style, and innate musical abilities, we offer a 5-week Musicreative™ introductory package. This allows the student to gradually build a rapport with the instructor and become comfortable with the learning environment and structure. During this time, the instructor also gets to know the child in depth, and parents can assess whether the class is a good fit for their child.

  • No, Musicreative™ is not music therapy.

Musicreative™ is a subject-based, individualized private music lesson program providing instruction in piano, guitar, voice, and songwriting. Through structured and consistent lessons, students develop core musical skills such as technique, rhythm, listening, and musical expression, while also building focus, confidence, communication, and self-expression in a supportive learning environment.

Musicreative™, on the other hand, is a music education program. The primary focus is on learning music—developing musical skills, understanding music theory, and gaining proficiency on instruments and voice through guided instruction.

While students may experience additional developmental benefits such as improved attention or learning skills, Musicreative™ is not a clinical service or treatment, but a structured music lesson program.
